Flag Day is observed in Tajikistan every November 24, commemorating the anniversary of the adoption of the national flag in 1992. Established by the President of Tajikistan in 2009, this public holiday celebrates the significance of the flag, which features three horizontal stripes of red, green, and white, along with a golden crown and seven five-pointed stars. Each color holds symbolic meaning: red represents national unity and victory, green signifies Islam, and white stands for purity and the snowy mountain peaks of Tajikistan. The crown symbolizes the Tajik nation, while the seven stars are inspired by a Tajik legend about Islamic heaven. The design of the flag reflects Persian culture and has similarities to the flag of Iran, albeit with reversed colors.
