Bonifacio Day (Philippines)

Recurrence pattern: every year on November 30.

Bonifacio Day is observed in the Philippines every November 30 to commemorate the birthday of Andrés Bonifacio, a key figure in the country's history known as “the Father of the Philippine Revolution.” Born on November 30, 1863, Bonifacio founded the secret society Katipunan in 1892, which aimed for independence from Spanish rule. The holiday honors his contributions to the Philippine Revolution, which began with an uprising in 1896. Although he was a national leader for a time, Bonifacio was eventually replaced by Emilio Aguinaldo after a leadership dispute during the Tejeros Convention. Following his arrest and execution on May 10, 1897, Bonifacio became a national hero, and his legacy is celebrated throughout the country on this day.
