This holiday was officially established in the end of 1993, recognizing the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus (NASB) as the leading scientific organization responsible for coordinating various scientific explorations across engineering, natural, social, and human sciences. The NASB comprises numerous research institutes, centers, and facilities, employing over 17,000 individuals as of 2007, including a significant number of Candidates and Doctors of Sciences.
