Global FPIES Day is observed worldwide every October 14 to increase awareness of food protein-induced enterocolitis syndrome (FPIES), a rare gastrointestinal food allergy. This day was established by the FPIES Foundation, a U.S.-based nonprofit organization that supports affected families and healthcare professionals. FPIES is characterized by severe vomiting and diarrhea hours after consuming trigger foods, which can include cow's milk, soy, grains, and various other proteins. Diagnosis is challenging as it does not involve immunoglobulin E (IgE), and treatment primarily focuses on avoiding known triggers. The day aims to improve understanding of FPIES and dispel myths surrounding the condition.
