International Prokupac Day is observed worldwide every October 14 to celebrate the indigenous Serbian red wine grape variety, Prokupac. This holiday aims to promote Serbian wines and highlight the significance of Prokupac, which is considered Serbia’s signature grape and has been cultivated since the Middle Ages. The main celebration occurs in Belgrade, where a professional conference allows selected wineries to showcase their Prokupac wines and share knowledge to enhance the country's wine industry. Wineries, wine shops, bars, and restaurants participate by organizing tastings, workshops, and other events for wine enthusiasts. Prokupac is primarily used to produce rosé wines, known for their deep ruby color, and is also blended with international grape varieties. Celebrating this day can also be done individually by purchasing a bottle of Prokupac wine and sharing it with friends while promoting the holiday on social media.
