World Day for Farmed Animals is observed worldwide every October 2, commemorating the birthday of Mahatma Gandhi, an activist against cruelty and a proponent of vegetarianism. Established in 1983, this observance aims to promote the rights of farm animals and highlight their suffering and deaths due to farming practices. Volunteers and over 500 nonprofit organizations across all 50 states in the USA and more than 20 countries organize vegetarian festivals and engage in dialogues with local officials to advocate for measures against animal cruelty. Participants are encouraged to spread information about the observance and consider adopting a vegetarian or vegan lifestyle to ensure a safer life for all animals.
