October 21: Nurses’ Day (Thailand)

National Nurses' Day is observed in Thailand every October 21, commemorating the birth anniversary of Princess Srinagarindra, known as "the Royal Grandmother." Born Sangwan Chukramol in 1900, she significantly contributed to the development of Thailand's health system, having studied nursing in the United States after receiving a scholarship from Prince Mahidol. Following his death in 1929, she continued to support medical education by providing scholarships and played a key role in nursing, founding nursing schools and the Thailand Nursing Association, as well as organizing the country's first nursing convention. Her contributions to healthcare and nursing in Thailand are recognized on this day, which serves to honor her legacy and the profession of nursing.
