World Amyloidosis Day is observed worldwide every October 26, having been launched in 2021 to increase understanding of amyloidosis, a rare disease caused by the accumulation of abnormal proteins called amyloid fibrils. The day aims to connect the amyloidosis community with the general public, as widespread knowledge is essential for achieving faster diagnoses and improving treatment quality. The event is organized by the Amyloidosis Alliance, which includes patient groups and organizations from 18 countries across four continents. Participants are encouraged to educate themselves and others about amyloidosis, donate to relevant organizations, and engage in local events or social media campaigns using the hashtag #WorldAmyloidosisDay. The observance highlights the importance of timely diagnosis, as patients often experience significant delays in receiving appropriate care.
