Security Guard Day, officially known as Security Company Employee Day, is observed in Kazakhstan every October 29. This professional holiday was established in 2017 to honor the staff of specialized security units of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and employees of private security companies. The date commemorates the 1952 decree by the Soviet Union's Council of Ministers that established an external security service under the Ministry of Internal Affairs. Currently, over 15,000 personnel in the specialized security service protect important state properties, while more than 5,000 private security companies employ over 98,000 individuals across the country. The holiday highlights the contributions of security guards to the safety of residents and visitors, as well as their role in the economy. The Association of Security Organizations of Kazakhstan, in collaboration with the National Chamber of Entrepreneurs “Atameken,” played a key role in advocating for this recognition.
