Vranec World Day is observed worldwide every October 5 to celebrate the Vranec grape variety, which originated in Montenegro and is predominantly grown in North Macedonia. This wine-related holiday aims to promote Macedonian wines and support local wineries, particularly highlighting the importance of indigenous grape varieties. Established in 2019 by Wines of Macedonia, a non-governmental organization, the day features various events such as wine tours, tastings, and workshops, attracting wine experts, producers, and enthusiasts. North Macedonia is home to three major wine-growing regions, with Povardarie being the most significant for quality and quantity. Vranec grapes produce rich, deep-colored wines known for their complex aromas and flavors, making this celebration a focal point for showcasing the region's viticulture heritage.
