Village and Tribe Day is observed in Iran on October 7 each year, corresponding to the 15th day of the month of Mehr in the Iranian calendar. Established in 2013 by the Center for Rural Development, this holiday honors the contributions of rural residents to the country's economy, particularly in agriculture. Despite a high urbanization rate, about 25% of Iran's population still lives in rural areas, with significant numbers belonging to nomadic and semi-nomadic tribes such as the Baloch and Lurs. The day is marked by various events and activities that express gratitude to these residents, while also highlighting the challenges they face, including limited access to drinking water, transportation, education, and healthcare services.
