Hùng Kings Commemoration Day is observed in Vietnam every year on the 10th day of the 3rd month of the Vietnamese calendar. Established as an official public holiday in 2007, it honors the Hùng kings, ancient rulers believed to have led Vietnam during the Hồng Bàng period. The holiday coincides with the Hùng Kings’ Temple Festival, which takes place from the 8th to the 11th days of the 3rd lunar month, with the most significant celebrations occurring on the third day, known as the Death Anniversary of the Hùng Kings. This day is marked by a procession that begins at the foot of Nghĩa Lĩnh mountain, where pilgrims stop at various small temples before reaching Hùng Temple, located at the summit. The festival reflects the cultural heritage of Vietnam and recognizes the Hùng kings as the traditional founders of the nation.
