Rama Navami (India and Nepal)

Rama Navami, also spelled Rama Nawami, is an annual Hindu festival celebrated on the ninth day of the month of Chaitra, observed worldwide, particularly in India and Nepal. This festival commemorates the birth of Rama, the seventh avatar of the Hindu deity Vishnu, who is revered as the ideal man and a model of dharma. The celebrations mark the culmination of the nine-day festival known as Chaitra Navratri and include traditional prayers, community meals, chanting of mantras, offerings of flowers and fruits, and street processions. In some regions, Rama Navami also signifies the wedding anniversary of Rama and Sita, leading to symbolic wedding ceremonies held in temples. It is recognized as a public holiday in Nepal and certain Indian states, underscoring its significance in Hindu culture.
