Second Friday in June: Senior TT Race (Isle of Man)

The Senior TT Race is observed in the Isle of Man on every first Friday of June. This prestigious motorcycle race, which began in 1911, is a major event eagerly anticipated by both islanders and tourists worldwide. It is organized by the Department of Tourism and Leisure and has become a festival since 1989. The race features a challenging 60-kilometer (37.2 miles) track that runs through the island's main streets and is known for its extreme danger, leading to part of the race being transferred to the UK in the 1970s. While the average speed of modern race bikes is approximately 131.6 mph, the inaugural race bikes only reached around 47 mph. The event is officially recognized as a non-working holiday, allowing participants and spectators to fully engage in the festivities surrounding this iconic motorcycle competition.
