Helicopter Industry Day is observed in Russia every second Saturday of December and is celebrated by individuals involved in the helicopter industry as their professional holiday. Although it has no official status, it recognizes the contributions of helicopter pilots, engineers, mechanics, and maintenance specialists. The day commemorates the history of helicopter construction in Russia, which began in 1930 with the TsAGI 1-EA, the first Soviet helicopter. The Mil Mi-1, developed in the late 1940s, marked the beginning of serial helicopter production in the Soviet Union. Following the collapse of the Soviet Union, the industry was revitalized through the establishment of Russian Helicopters in 2007, which is now a key player in helicopter design and manufacturing. Festive events and activities are organized by the Association of the Helicopter Industry, which includes various companies involved in helicopter production and services.
