Land Management Day is observed in Ukraine and Kazakhstan on the second Saturday of March. In Ukraine, the holiday, known as Land Managers’ Day, was first proposed by the Ukrainian State Committee for Land Resources and the Land Surveyors Union of Ukraine, with official recognition by President Leonid Kuchma in 1999. The inaugural celebration took place on March 11, 2000, emphasizing the importance of land reforms for conservation and rational use of land resources. In Kazakhstan, the holiday, referred to as Land Management, Surveying and Mapping Employees’ Day, has been celebrated since 2017, recognizing the contributions of employees from various governmental bodies involved in land management, such as the Land Management Committee of the Ministry of Agriculture. Both countries highlight the role of land managers in maintaining state cadastral registers, which document land ownership and rights.
