Sustainable House Day is observed in Australia every second Sunday of September, with the next occurrence on September 14, 2025. This annual event aims to educate the public about energy efficiency and sustainable living, which emphasizes reducing the use of the Earth's natural resources. Launched in 2001 by the Australian Solar Council, the event allows participants to engage with owners of sustainable homes, as well as designers, architects, and engineers involved in green building construction. Visitors have the opportunity to tour sustainable houses and receive firsthand advice from homeowners. In 2015, the coordination of Sustainable House Day was taken over by the Alternative Technology Association and EnviroShop, which encourages community involvement to promote the benefits of sustainable living.
