Teachers’ Day is observed in China every September 10 to show respect and appreciation for the work of teachers and educators. This holiday was officially established by the Chinese government on January 21, 1985, following the cultural revolution, which significantly reduced the number of intellectual workers, particularly teachers. The government initiated this holiday to highlight the importance of teachers and encourage young people to pursue careers in education. Although the date was fixed on September 10 without an official explanation, there have been proposals to move it to September 28, the birthday of Confucius, which is celebrated as Teachers’ Day in Taiwan. Modern celebrations include various festivals and meetings in schools, where students express their gratitude by giving flowers and gifts to their teachers.
