Deceased Motorcyclists Remembrance Day, also known as Deceased Bikers Remembrance Day, is observed in Ukraine every September 18 to honor motorcyclists who have died in accidents. The date commemorates Anna Mishutkina, a Ukrainian motorcyclist who was killed in a road accident in 2008. In her memory, bikers across Ukraine participate in candlelight vigils, solemn ceremonies, and motorcycle rallies, with the largest memorial ceremony held at the Monument to Deceased Bikers in Bila Tserkva. This monument features a bronze sculpture of a young biker and serves as a focal point for remembrance. On this day, Ukrainian bikers adhere to an unspoken rule of refraining from blaming car drivers for accidents, emphasizing the importance of traffic rules instead. The observance seeks to foster a sense of community among motorcyclists while remembering those lost on the roads.
