World Environmental Health Day is observed worldwide every September 26. It was inaugurated in 2011 in Indonesia by the International Federation of Environmental Health (IFEH) to promote knowledge about environmental health and foster international cooperation to improve the planet's environmental situation. The first celebration featured a special hymn composed and performed by Indonesian student-activists. By 2012, the observance expanded to Africa and Europe, and in 2013, it gained support from activists in Canada, Britain, the United States, Australia, and Asia. Each year, the IFEH announces a specific theme and organizes various activities to engage the public in addressing environmental issues.
