September 3: Army Day (Moldova)

National Army Day is observed in Moldova on September 3 every year to commemorate the establishment of the Armed Forces of Moldova in 1991, shortly after the country gained independence from the Soviet Union. The holiday was officially recognized when the head of state signed a decree for the formation of the Armed Forces. According to the Moldovan Constitution, adopted in 1994, the Armed Forces are responsible for ensuring the national security of the state, with the formation process completed in 1997. The Moldovan Armed Forces currently consist of Ground Forces, organized into motor rifle brigades and an artillery brigade, as well as Air Defense Forces, which include a fighter regiment and a helicopter squadron. National Army Day is celebrated at a national level, bringing together military personnel and civilians to honor this important institution in independent Moldova.
