Engineer Troops Day is observed in Armenia every September 7 to commemorate the formation of the Department of the Engineer Troops in 1992. This official observance highlights the essential role of military engineers in the Armed Forces, who are responsible for various tasks, including constructing military works, maintaining transport and communication lines, and conducting demining operations. The Engineer Troops played a significant role in Armenia's military efforts during the Nagorno-Karabakh War, contributing to victories by effectively utilizing combat engineering strategies. Since the end of the conflict, their focus has shifted to demining efforts in areas affected by the war, addressing the dangers posed by landmines in over a hundred recognized life-threatening zones. The day was established by the Minister of Defense of Armenia in 2000 to honor the personnel of the Engineer Troops and their contributions to national security.
