SUDEP Action Day is observed worldwide every third Wednesday of October, with the next occurrence on October 15, 2025. Launched by the UK-based charity SUDEP Action in 2014, the campaign aims to educate individuals with epilepsy about sudden unexpected death in epilepsy (SUDEP) and their associated risks. SUDEP is a fatal complication of epilepsy, accounting for 8 to 17% of epilepsy-related deaths, often occurring without witnesses during sleep. The campaign encourages people to learn about SUDEP, share information using the hashtags #SUDEPActionDay and #SUDEP, and support epilepsy research through donations. SUDEP Action Day also honors those who have suffered SUDEP and promotes research to save lives. The initiative emphasizes the importance of informed decisions regarding epilepsy management and lifestyle, as many affected individuals and their families are unaware of the risks associated with SUDEP.
