Military Medic Day is observed in Armenia every November 17 to commemorate the foundation anniversary of the military medical hospital of the Armed Forces of Armenia, established on November 17, 1992. It highlights the contributions of military medical personnel, including doctors, nurses, and combat medics, who provide emergency medical treatment, prevent and treat infectious diseases, and conduct medical research tailored to the needs of deployed forces. The education of Armenian military medics occurs at the Faculty of Military Medicine of the Mkhitar Heratsi Yerevan State Medical University, which was founded in 1994. Graduates typically serve in border military units, military hospitals, or the Military Medical Directorate, and they also engage in rescue operations during peacetime. Military medics are protected under international humanitarian law, ensuring their safety in conflict situations.
