Pasay City Day, also known as Pasay City Foundation Day, is observed in Pasay City, Philippines, every December 2. This special non-working holiday commemorates the founding anniversary of Pasay, which was officially granted a municipal charter on December 2, 1863. The city, known for hosting Ninoy Aquino International Airport, was originally part of Namayan before Spanish colonization. The holiday is marked by various events, including job fairs, thanksgiving masses, musical performances by the city’s symphony band, and the lighting of a giant Christmas tree near the city hall. Notably, Pasay is recognized for its historical significance, being the birthplace of Marcela Marcelo, one of the few female generals in the Philippine Revolution.
