World Veterinary Day is observed worldwide every last Saturday of April. Established in 2000 by the World Veterinary Association (WVA), this professional observance aims to promote the veterinary profession and highlight the significant contributions of veterinarians to society. Each year, a new theme is selected, and WVA member associations and independent veterinary bodies are encouraged to organize activities such as media events, seminars, workshops, education sessions, concerts, and parades that align with the theme. Additionally, the WVA, in collaboration with the World Organization for Animal Health, introduced the WVD Award in 2008 to recognize outstanding efforts in promoting the year's theme and celebrating the veterinary profession's societal benefits.
