World Soil Day is observed worldwide every December 5. The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) has been actively involved in promoting this observance since 2012, organizing special events to emphasize the importance of soil and its preservation. In 2013, the UN General Assembly officially designated December 5 as World Soil Day, coinciding with the birthday of King Bhumibol Adulyadej of Thailand, who supported the initiative. The day serves as a reminder of the often-overlooked issues related to soil and encourages action towards addressing these challenges.
