Civil Aviation Workers' Day is observed in Belarus on the first Sunday of November. Established in 1998 by President Alexander Lukashenko, the holiday commemorates the first flight from Minsk to Moscow, which took place in 1933, marking the beginning of civil aviation in Belarus. The opening of Minsk-1 Airport on November 7, 1933, was a significant milestone, followed by the establishment of Minsk-2 Airport (now Minsk National Airport) in 1982. This day recognizes the contributions of civil aviation personnel, including pilots, flight attendants, air traffic controllers, and aircraft mechanics. Belarus joined the International Civil Aviation Organization in 1993, and its civil aviation activities are coordinated by the Department for Aviation, with Minsk National Airport serving as the main international hub and the base for the national carrier, Belavia.
