Paddle for Perthes Disease Awareness Day, also known as Legg–Calvé–Perthes Disease Awareness Day, is observed worldwide every last Saturday in July. The day was established to promote understanding of Legg–Calvé–Perthes disease, a childhood hip disorder caused by disrupted blood flow to the femur's head. The inaugural event took place in 2010, featuring a paddling activity that allows those affected by the disease to participate without straining their legs. Although the event was held annually until 2013 and the social media accounts have since become inactive, families continue to advocate for awareness on this day. Typical symptoms of the disease include mild hip pain, reduced mobility, and limping, with treatment focusing on pain relief and preventing deformity.
