Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive Day is observed on the second Saturday in May and is organized by the National Association of Letter Carriers in collaboration with the United States Postal Service and the American Federation of Labor and Congress of Industrial Organizations. This event aims to address food insecurity, with projections indicating that up to 200 million people globally may experience hunger. Communities participate by donating non-perishable food items, which are collected by postal carriers during their regular routes. Individuals can also make financial donations to support food banks or volunteer at local food pantries. The initiative began as a pilot program in 1991 and has since expanded to at least 10,000 cities across all 50 states, making it the largest one-day food drive in the country.
