NGO Day is observed in Iran every year on August 12, corresponding to the 22nd of Mordad in the Iranian calendar. This day commemorates a significant conference held on August 12, 2014, which brought together representatives from approximately 3,000 non-governmental organizations (NGOs) and the Iranian government, including then-President Hassan Rouhani. The conference aimed to enhance cooperation between NGOs and the government. Following the event, delegates proposed the establishment of NGO Day, which was later officially recognized by the Supreme Council of the Cultural Revolution. The primary objective of NGO Day is to highlight the importance of NGOs in various sectors such as religion, education, health care, environmental protection, and social welfare. Although it is an important observance, it is not a public holiday in Iran.
