Statia Day, also known as Flag Day, is observed in Sint Eustatius on November 16 each year. This public holiday commemorates the adoption of the island's flag in 2004. The flag features a design of four five-sided blue squares with red fimbriation and a central white rhombus containing a green silhouette of the island and a five-pointed golden star. The celebration of Statia Day is a reflection of the island's heritage and culture, marked by flag hoisting ceremonies, official speeches, parades, and various festive events throughout the week leading up to the holiday. Sint Eustatius, part of the BES islands along with Bonaire and Saba, has a rich history as it transitioned from being part of the Netherlands Antilles to a special municipality of the Netherlands in 2010.
