The Day of Svetitskhoveli Cathedral is observed in Georgia every October 14. This public holiday, also known as Svetitskovloba, celebrates the Svetitskhoveli Cathedral, located in Mtskheta, a historical town near Tbilisi. The cathedral is one of the most revered places of worship in Georgia and is believed to be the burial site of Jesus Christ's mantle. According to legend, a Georgian Jew named Elias brought the seamless robe of Jesus to Mtskheta, where his sister Sidonia died after touching it, leading to her burial with the robe. A cedar tree is said to have grown from her grave, marking the site. In the 4th century, Saint Nino ordered the construction of the first Georgian church at this location, which eventually became Svetitskhoveli Cathedral. The cathedral served as the principal church in Georgia for nearly a thousand years before the Holy Trinity Cathedral of Tbilisi was built.
