October 24: Engineer’s Day (Venezuela)

Engineer’s Day is observed in Venezuela every October 28 to commemorate the founding anniversary of the first College of Engineering, established in 1861. The holiday marks the signing of a decree by President Manuel Felipe de Tovar on October 24, 1860, which regulated the foundation of the College of Engineering and the Academy of Mathematics. Since its inception, over 120,000 engineers and related professionals have graduated from the College, contributing significantly to the nation's development and modernization. The day recognizes the challenging work of engineers, who apply knowledge from various fields such as technology, science, and environmental protection. To celebrate this important profession, various events are organized across Venezuela by the Engineer Association, the main public engineering organization, encouraging all Venezuelan engineers to participate.
