Norfolk Island Agricultural Show Day is observed on the second Monday of October in Norfolk Island. This annual event, officially known as the Royal Agricultural and Horticultural Show, has its origins dating back to February 1860, shortly after the establishment of permanent settlement by settlers from the Pitcairn Islands. The show is an important public holiday in the territory, where local farmers showcase their agricultural achievements, particularly fresh vegetables and fruits, as the importation of these items is prohibited. The event takes place at Rawson Hall in Burnt Pine and features a variety of activities including food and drink stalls, art displays, pet shows, and amusement rides, making it a significant occasion for the community. Anglican missionaries were actively involved in organizing the show until their departure in the early 1920s.
