Mother's Day, known as Morsdag, is celebrated in Norway on the second Sunday in February, which falls on February 8 this year. This national day honors mothers and mother figures, and it has been observed for over a century. Traditionally, mothers receive gifts and may enjoy breakfast in bed, often accompanied by handcrafted items and greeting cards from their children. Many businesses are closed on this day as it always coincides with a Sunday. The celebration began in a Methodist Church in Bergen and was established as an annual holiday by two women, Karen Platou and Dorothea Schjodager. Additionally, when Mother's Day coincides with Fastelavn, a Carnival day, locals celebrate with a special type of bun called 'Fastelavenboller.'
