The Water Festival, known as Bon Om Touk, is observed in Cambodia every November and is one of the country's most popular festivals. This three-day celebration marks the natural phenomenon of the Tonle Sap River reversing its flow. It features various cultural and military traditions, including army training displays and the celebration of naval victories. During the festival, people partake in a special dish called Ak Ambok, made from rice, banana, and coconut. A significant event is the ceremony of taking illuminated boats to the water, which begins around 7 pm, where boats representing government ministries are adorned with vibrant neon lights. Additionally, the ceremony of salutation to the moon occurs at midnight, drawing crowds to pagodas to enjoy Ak Ambok.
