Teachers' Day is observed in Syria every third Thursday of March to honor the hard work and dedication of teachers in the country. This holiday is significant as it recognizes the role of educators in the intellectual growth of the nation. At the national level, the President and First Lady of Syria host a special event to celebrate distinguished teachers, acknowledging their courage in continuing to educate despite the challenges posed by civil unrest and terrorist attacks targeting schools. Local ceremonies are also held in schools, where children prepare special events for their teachers, although it is not a day off. The holiday was removed from the list of official holidays in 2025 following the fall of the Assad regime.
