Social Workers' Day is observed in Armenia every November 4 to honor the contributions of social workers in the country. Established in 2009, this professional holiday commemorates the founding of the Ministry of Social Affairs in 1918, following Armenia's declaration of independence from the Russian Empire. The Ministry was created to address pressing social issues such as poverty and high mortality rates. After Armenia regained independence from the Soviet Union, the Ministry was reestablished and later renamed the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs. On this day, official events are held, including awards ceremonies where outstanding social workers are recognized for their dedication and achievements. While Social Workers' Day is not a non-working holiday, it serves as an important occasion to acknowledge the vital role of social workers in improving the well-being of Armenian citizens.
