Third Thursday in May: Mental Health Action Day

Mental Health Action Day is observed worldwide every third Thursday of May. Established in 2021 by MTV Entertainment Group alongside nearly 200 organizations, it aims to shift the mental health culture from awareness to action, particularly in response to the mental health crisis exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic. The day encourages individuals to take proactive steps for their mental well-being, such as engaging in self-care activities, supporting loved ones, and advocating for mental health resources. Since its inception, the event has garnered support from over 2,700 nonprofit organizations, government agencies, and influential leaders across more than 32 countries. Participants are encouraged to share their mental health journeys on social media using the hashtag #MentalHealthAction, attend or host events, and contribute to mental health nonprofits.
